Hello, I have a question....How important is the business knowledge for the role of a change co-ordinator/change analyst? As per my understanding, a change co-ordinator works under the change manager and his tasks mainly include verification if all the relevant forms have been filled out, are all approvals in place, if there is code conflict etc. Is a change co-ordinator/change analyst required to do risk/impact analysis also? For example, can a person work as change co-ordinator in Banking domain, and then work in telecom?

It is always good to understand the business flow when u are working as a change analyst/co-ordinator as it enables you to understand the complete flow and the impact of the change. For e.g. you are working in a telecom domain and there is rfc for implementing a change to the existing functionality and the requester has chosen the change category as minor, now if you have business knowledge you can easily look at it with the impacted application that the change category needs to be major and not minor. this is just an example. moreover, it depends on you if you really need business knowledge. change co-ordinator/change analyst is required to evaluate the risk and impact by probing the requester. yes a person working as change co-ordinator in Banking domain can work in telecom as well as the basic framework remains the same. hope this answers your queries.
