I have read a lot about Availability Management but the ITIL Service Delivery Book although mentioning the need to be able to report on Availability, MTBF, MTTR, planned, unplanned etc at no point recommends a Reporting Tool that can do all this. It also suggests that automation is the key, this all sounds great but so far I have to key every server failure into a spread sheet and only report on availability. To try and manipulate the spreadsheet to account for service hours and calculate MTBF would make the job even more time consuming. Surely there must be a tool somewhere that is designed for this job, if not why not as ITIL seems to be taking over the world 'still not sure why'
Bottom line, does anyone know of any tools for the above.
