For general information and resources, ITIL and ITSM World is the most well known for both ITIL and ITIL Books. A shorter snapshot approach can be found at ITIL Zone

I'm new to the Forum. Just started hearing about ITIL and am interested in the certification process. One confusing point: Is there actually an ITIL Foundation (an organization)? If so, what is the website. Anu query I make returns sites concerning Foundation Certification which I take to men the fundamental principles of ITIL.
There is no "Foundation" Don. Foundation refers to the first certification level, the 'foundation exam'.
ITIL was developed by the UK Government, which is why there is no 'foundation' site. They of course mention ITIL on their government site(s), but the site you are currently reading should provide you with plenty of background and information.

Then who's responsible for issuing the certification? Who sets testing and materials standards? Who makes sure the the companies offering training for the ITIL Foundation exam are legit?
The examination bodies I believe are called Exin and ISEB. But they are just that: independent examination bodies. They do not own ITIL or produce the documents.
