What is your ITIL Change Management

I just wanted to get feedback about how the ITIL Change Management process was setup in your organization, successes, and failures, i.e. How are changes tracked, is change management involved in project management, does change management approves changes in development and staging or just production, etc? Please do not send websites, I have researched every website possible. I would like actually real life feedback on ITIL Change management processes. Thank you!

oooh, what a lot of questions. here my attempt at some answers for my org.

Change & config are linked. Our configuration items have various 'states' depending on their CI CATEGORY( Document, Environment, Logical, Network, Software, Server, etc)

These states are grouped as follows:
STATUS(Active, Inactive, Retired, Deleted),
FUNCTION(Sandbox, Developement, Test, QA, Production, Training)
LIFE-CYCLE(Staging, In-service, Retired, Spare)

Change control is used to introduce and move a CI from any state, and to change the components of the CI item.
Therefore CM is also part of Project mgmt too.
