Hello reader,
i´m currently searching a list of all kinds of IT tasks that have to be done in an organisation (e.g. install a printer, respond to an incident ticket, provide first level support ...).
I need this list, because i have to do a "scanning" of our foreign IT departments, with the aim to reorganize them according to a higher grade of standardization.

that is quite a large chunk to bite off. All I have so far are questions...
1) Can you group your tasks somehow to make your list more manageable?
2) are you including "application development" as an IT task? That can add another dimension.
3) I get different terms used by different areas of the same company in the same building, let alone in other countries. How will you word your queries to be the right balance between general and specifiv to get back valid information?
4) what does 'standardization' mean to your company?
infinitely curious - thats me
*okay - funny story about different terms: I asked a support agent if she could contact someone else in her area who was there but not answering her phone. she said she could 'pop' her. "Please tell me that you are not planning on doing that Sopranos-style", I said.... (The Sopranos is an American TV show about a mobster...) She laughed

Andreas,
I don't know if this will help but I have done the same thing but at a much higher level. My team provides these types of work categorizations and solutions for them to our clients.
If you're interested, please visit my company's web site and look up the topic "IT Operations" under the product category. You will find a high-level list of these categorizations. You can find my company name in my profile, on this system. If you have a problem with getting the details let me know and I'll help you out.
Apologies, in advance, for the state of the web-site. We haven't formally opened up our doors for business, yet, so the web-site and the content on it is still in growth mode.
