Hi,
we are trying to use the BMC CMDB to implement the CMDB in our organization. Since this product is new, we are not sure how this works. Can anybody share their experience of how they used BMC CMDB (or any other Service management product) in their environment, particularly from the view of
a) Change management and how impacted items are being picked up from the CMDB for a given change
b) If these impacted items are known, then how are the relevant approval authorities for each of the affected item notified?
I doubt I can be a whole lot of help to you, but we are going down the same road with BMC. We have already implemented incident and change management and have basic assets in asset management, I am adding applications now and then will work on the relationships. We have not installed Atrium yet but plan to go that route. The basic building blocks are the best way to get started imho. Do you have a solid Change Management and incident management process underway and are you using BMC products already?
I am still looking for a lot of answers myself! There are some good seminars out there... check the BMC web site or talk to your rep... Gartner is presenting some of them. There are also a number of white papers on the BMC site.
