Answer: It's now August 2020 and this is still a very valid question.
The short answer is Yes. It advances you to the ITIL 4 Managing Professional Certification by taking 1 course and 1 exam. You qualify to take it if you have 15 to 17 ITIL V3 credits, you get to skip all 4 courses and exams.
With the right qualification you get to skip taking the 4 Managing Professional courses and go straight to MPT. It is a reward for doing so well in the ITIL V track.
Here is how it works:
1. With 15 ITIL V3 credits you can jump straight to ITIL 4 Foundation and then Managing Professional Transition and become an ITIL 4 Managing Professional. This means 2 courses and 2 exams.
2. With 17 or more ITIL V3 credits you can jump straight to the ITIL 4 Managing Professional Transition course and exam and become an ITIL 4 Managing Professional.
It is also a great plan for people who hold 10 or more ITIL V3 credits. ITIL V3 courses and exams are less expensive than ITIL 4 courses and exams so you can finish out your V3 certifications and get ITIL 4 Managing Professional.
